Be wary of phishing emails, warns OpenSea, after discovering that an employee of Customer.io, a platform for managing email newsletters and campaigns, disclosed the email addresses of OpenSea customers to a third party.
Email newsletter management systems and Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software appear to be a weak point for crypto companies as frequent data leaks occur.
Like Customer.io, Hubspot was hacked in March, affecting BlockFi, Swan Bitcoin, NYDIG, and Circle.
These sites’ users’ identities, phone numbers, and email addresses were exposed to a third party.
OpenSea stated that bad actors might attempt to email OpenSea clients from names that resemble OpenSea.io, such as OpenSea.org and OpenSea.xyz.
Customers of OpenSea are complaining on Twitter about an increase in spam emails, phone calls, and text messages.
