According to Meta's Product Manager Navdeep Singh, the social media giant has begun testing Polygon and Ethereum-based non-fungible tokens (NFTs) among a restricted number of Facebook developers.
The upgrade features a "digital collectibles" option that will allow Facebook users to display NFTs on their profile page.
In May, Meta tested NFT integrations on Instagram, its first step into NFTs.
Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Meta, said on June 21 that the company is expanding its test so that more creators from across the globe may exhibit their NFTs on Instagram. He added that people would soon be able to cross-post across Instagram and Facebook, beginning with a select set of U.S. producers.
The NFT market is suffering a decline along with the broader crypto market. According to Dunn Analytics, the June volume of NFT trading on OpenSea was the lowest in 11 months.
