United StatesSergey Nazarov and Steve Ellis created Chainlink in 2017. The same year, they co-authored a white paper introducing the Chainlink protocol and network together with Cornell University professor Ari Juels. Chainlink is a “bridge” between a blockchain and off-chain environments. In 2019 the network, which services smart contracts, was formally launched.
ChainLink is headquartered in Cayman Island. SmartContract is the parent company of ChainLink.
From 2009 to 2010, Steve Ellis provided online assistance in the Computer Science department at New York University. He also graded homework and proctored exams.
From 2010 to 2013, he worked at Pivotal Labs as Software Engineer. Steve worked on various projects, engineering with an emphasis on extreme programming. In addition to technical development, he helped clients learn how to build products using agile processes and test-driven development.
Additionally, supported clients hire and make responsible technical decisions for creating stable, scalable applications.
Between Jun 2014 – Jan 2016, Steve was co-founder and CTO of Secure Asset Exchange. He provides secure messaging, decentralized data storage, and access to a decentralized buy/sell order matching engine.
He built an end-to-end conversion tool for users to transfer value between blockchains quickly and even automate the purchase of assets. He produced early versions of smart contracts to ensure asset issuers kept their promises, using Bitcoin Multisignature escrow and unbroadcast transactions. He worked with Bitcoin, NXT, Ruby, JavaScript, and Java.
From 2017 until now, Steve Ellis has worked on Chainlink and SmartContract.com. Like a software engineer and team lead, he realized how the crypto world changes the economic system, and he’s a big fan of Ethereum, Bitcoin, and the decentralized future we’re all building.
